MicroKorg

Since its release in 2002, the microKORG has been loved by more musicians around the world than any other hardware synth in music history. Following the first generation microKORG, a number of variations were introduced, including the microKORG XL released in 2009 and the microKORG S with 2+1 speakers, as well as many color variations.

The microKORG was born out of a desire to bring the appeal and fun of synthesizers to beginner and professional musicians, track makers, and creators everywhere. Korg easily achieved this goal,creating a wildly successful synthesizer that was not only compact andeasy to use but sounded amazing.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of its release, the original "microKORG" will be reintroduced as software: microKORG for Mac/Win.

SSL 4K B Channel Strip

UVI Falcon 2.8

UVI has announced the release of Falcon 2.8, the latest update to their flagship hybrid instrument.

The update features the all-new Texture oscillator, 7 new effects including the pitch-shifting Shifter and Harmonizer, the expanded Dual Delay X, Diffuse Delay, Velvet Delay, Granulizer, and the vintage-inspired Feedback Compressor, a collection of new scripts including Chip Arp, Ostinato Arp, Waterfall, Slicer Remixer, Strum Wheel, and Tape Mod, 100 new presets in the new "Organic Texture" category, and enhancements to the Multi Envelope modulator, allowing the extrapolation of brightness, transient, and pitch envelopes from audio files to use as a modulation source. Falcon 2.8 is available immediately for all users of Falcon through the UVI Portal desktop app, or at uvi.net.

Reason Europa vst

Today Propellerhead released our first VST/AU. We’ve been doing plugins for six years, and DAW instruments and effects since long before that, so what’s the big deal?

Well, this one works in Ableton Live, Apple Logic, Image Line FL Studio, Presonus Studio One, Cubase and many other DAWs (I hate that word. Can’t we just call them music making apps?!), not just in Reason. What does that mean?

First of all it means that all you loyal Reason users (thank you!) can use one of your favorite synths in any other DAW (naturally) that you also have installed. A free Europa by Reason license just got injected into your user account.

But secondly it means that those of you who have chosen some other music making app as your favorite, now finally can get some Reason goodness into your life. Europa is a killer beast of a synth. It sounds absolutely amazing, it’s mind-blowingly powerful and it’s straight forward to get around. There’s a demo version to try if you don’t believe us, but we really think you’ll find it’s true.

Some of you might wonder if there’s a longer thought behind this release and if it indicates a change in how we think about Reason, how much resources we put into it, if there’s a shift to how we think about updates etc? The answers is no. We can do multiple things at a time. We’ve created this VST/AU. We’re working on a mobile app. And we’re working on Reason just as always, adding features as I write this. Reason stays what it is. We already announced that there will be no paid update this year but we promise to bring you more of what you love anyway, as soon as we are able to.

The other thing you should note is that we also released Europa on the web today. From a futuristic and tech standpoint, that’s actually an even bigger deal than the VST/AU. What you are seeing there is an actual Rack Extension instrument running in a web browser. We didn’t recompile Europa or adapt it to the web to make this work, we made the web adapt to us. This is to a large extent possible thanks to some really exciting efforts by a very smart team at Google. And you can reap the benefits of their and our work right here.

So please enjoy Europa in whatever format you run it in. It really sounds equally amazing and inspiring in all its guises.

Xils 4 v1.6

The XILS 4 emulates a prototype that was never released: an EMS VCS4, based on two intricate and interacting VCS 3 (Synthi) cores. We also coupled these with the famous 256 analog Poly-sequencer.

Take the 2nd huge Pin Matrix and its numerous additional modules:
Envelopes, LFOs, S&H, Voltage Processor, Pitch Tracker, Transient etc. Or the recreation of the unique, powerful 256 analog Poly-sequencer, intimately tied to the synthesis engines. Add to that the analog Chorus (3 modes), Delay, Phaser and the Spring Reverb, and the full picture emerges.

The bx_limiter True Peak from Brainworx is a completely new design, crafted to avoid all the shortcomings of other true peak limiters. Designed from the ground up to be the ideal true peak limiter
Until now, most digital limiters that include a true peak mode have simply added it on as an afterthought. This has left a lot to be desired, with users complaining of unstable low end, compromised stereo imaging, harsh artifacts and more. But with the bx_limiter True Peak, Brainworx has taken a new approach, designing the plugin from scratch to perform as well or better than any conventional digital limiter while also eliminating troublesome intersample peaks for even cleaner results.

Two years in development, tested and approved by mastering professionals
With input from top mastering engineers around the world, Dirk Ulrich and the engineers of Brainworx packed bx_limiter True Peak with new technologies and new controls. It relies on “Selective Oversampling” (SOS), to employ oversampling only where it actually improves the signal, and to avoid it where it has been found to compromise the sound. Coupled with its “Advanced Look-Ahead” design and its incredible speed, it is able to deliver tighter, more accurate low end and better stereo imaging than any other true peak limiter around, even at extreme settings.

A complement of extra controls for enhanced final sweetening
The bx_limiter True Peak does more than just limit peaks. It also includes simple yet powerful tools to add the finishing touches of sweetening, for a more perfect master. Onboard low and high pass filters help control the extremes, while proprietary “XL” saturation and “Foundation” filters can be used to add subtle degrees of heft, weight, tightness or clarity to fine tune the sound of your master.

More metering than your average limiter
Also included are a suite of essential metering and monitoring options to help you better understand what’s going on with your audio. In addition to the traditional level and gain reduction meters, the bx_limiter True Peak includes a customizable loudness meter for hitting specific loudness targets, a correlation meter for checking phase coherence, and the ability to monitor the center, sides, and L/R channels separately or solo’d in place.
