In Jakob Herrmann's words
What can people expect from this IR pack?
This is an extremely detailed capture of a very unique piece of equipment that I've used on countless recordings, captured with my own gear in my own studio.
The best way to describe the sound is that it's the true sound of the different speakers, because the cab has such immense density and therefore very little vibrations. The pack contains the individual speakers with different mics and positions, but also "mixed" blends of dual speakers at the same time, sometimes treated with my own outboard EQs.
Was there any other unique gear used?
I don't know about unique, but a LOT of different mics in different combinations.
Ribbons, dynamics, condenser in every size, etc. Also some outboard EQ from my SSL console was used on some of the IRs as well. And of course my remote controlled Dynamount mic robots that I used to find just the right positions.
Me and KJ Melgoza, who was my guitarist when making this pack, spent a lot of time - and our ears - to find all the right combinations.
What was your first impression when you heard the cab?
"Holy shit, that thing as is loud as it is heavy!"
Having something so unique that is also so versatile and useful when recording and reamping guitars, is really fantastic. I've never seen any piece of gear quite like it.
Even though I have a bunch of other guitar cabs, this is my far the one I use most. Also, I love the reactions from the guitar players every time I roll it up and take off the lid, because they always go "WHAT on earth is that?!"

The Heaviest Cab In The World
Did you know that at least 80% of a guitar sound comes from the speaker cabinet?
All software amps use impulse responses to emulate the cab. The fastest way to make your guitar sound better is to use the best sounding IRs available.
Jakob Herrman is a producer, engineer and owner of Top Floor Studios in Gothenburg, Sweden.
He worked with Anthrax, In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Cyhra, Vildhjarta, Amaranthe, Evergrey, VOLA, Kee Marcello, and countless other bands and artists.
Top Floor studios is located in Stora Teatern ("the big theatre") built in the 1850s. It is one of Gothenburg's trademark buildings. Upstairs from the regular studio lies a gorgeous theatre stage, with 40 microphone channels straight down to the control room, transforming it into Gothenburg's biggest studio connected recording room
