Polarity Music Harmony Bloom Replaced With Bitwig
FANTASTiC | 06 April 2024 | 3 KB
I attempted to replicate Harmony Bloom, a polyrhythm generator, in Bitwig Studio, and here's a brief overview of how it went:

  • Harmony Bloom Overview: It generates notes with user-defined quantities and lengths, along with a loop length for timing cycles. Users can adjust note probability, offset notes for polyrhythms, and apply quantized or speed offsets to vary the rhythm dynamics.
  • Harmony Boom (My Bitwig Preset): This is my attempt to recreate Harmony Bloom. While it mostly succeeds, there are limitations, such as a maximum of 60 notes (compared to Harmony Bloom's 82). It allows for note generation, pitch adjustments, and the use of voice stacking to create complex rhythms. Users can also specify note collections and adjust parameters like probability and note length to shape their rhythms.
  • Differences & Features: Harmony Boom lacks the visual appeal of Harmony Bloom and has some feature limitations. However, it supports a degree of customization, such as free or quantized note offsets and pattern lengths. It also includes a pitch quantizer for scaling notes and offers a method to spread pitches across selected intervals.

In summary, while not a perfect replication, Harmony Boom introduces a similar polyrhythmic capability within Bitwig Studio, albeit with some constraints and less visual flair compared to Harmony Bloom.
