Nasko N-SPEC CLIP for PLUGDATA v1.2 [Synth Presets]

Nasko N-SPEC CLIP for PLUGDATA
FANTASTiC | 26 July 2024 | 3 MB
N-SPEC CLIP is a powerful spectral clipper with a fast workflow.

First featured in N-SPEC COMP, spectral clipper deserves to exist on its own as it's incredibly versatile and offers more features in this form.

Whether you want to prevent intermodulation distortion from peak harmonics, emulate polyphonic distortion or use it creatively, N-SPEC CLIP has a ton of use cases.

This is a spectral clipper, which means it uses FFT (1024) to clip the frequency spectrum with 512 linear phase bands.

With a traditional spectral clipper, you would still peak above 0db, as the sum of all clipped frequencies will still peak more than the per-band clipping threshold. That's why N-SPEC CLIP also features a high quality SOFT CLIPPER after the spectral clipping process, ensuring a clean 0dB threshold.

The main dial lowers the spectral clippers SPECTRUM THRESHOLD. It starts from +infdB, reaches 0dB at the midpoint and gradually goes down to -32dB, ensuring a ton of different clipping styles.

On top of clipping down to -32dB, there is an input gain control to drive into the spectral clipper, which goes hand-in-hand with the spectrum detail preservation that spectral clipping naturally introduces.

NOTE: Make sure to disable the Plugdata-fx SAFETY LIMITER, as that will limit your output to below 0dB!

BLUE = Safety Limiter ON.
