    • Anyone else getting errors unpacking this with 7Zip?

"There is some data at the end of the payload data" message

Found this, (https://sourceforge.net/p/sevenzip/discussion/45797/thread/12f4a318/) so could be just fine.

I don't have WinRAR, hence me encountering this sort of issue.

UPDATE - I can confirm it seems to work just fine in spite of this. Just copy the new Steam folder into the usual place, which is usually the (drive):\ProgramData\Spectrasonics folder. I renamed the old one out of the way first, but didn't delete it just in cast I had to roll-back to Omni2, but all seems well...and much quicker than the old version, too!

    • The Omnisphere VST gets overwritten at the time of install if you use the default path, so unless you set up a secondary folder for this, which is possible inside of Ableton, for example, then running them simultaneously can't happen.

I installed Omnisphere 3 with the idea that if I needed to I could roll back to Omnisphere 2 easily. You therefore need to copy or move Omnisphere 2's VST to a backup folder before installing Omnisphere 3. The default path it installs to is:

C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics (note - your drive letter may vary)

That's also where you should find your AUDIO16.DAT file that you need to copy/rename to AUDIO19.DAT before running the installer.

Once you unarchive the Omnisphere 3 Steam library just copy/move it to C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics, but only do this after renaming the existing STEAM folder to something else, in case you need to roll back to using Omnisphoere 2 if your installation fails for whatever reason.

Once you've tested Omnisphere 3 inside of your DAW to see that it works then I'm sure it's safe to delete the old Omnisphere 2 VST and STEAM folder, but I've not done this yet! So, go cautiously with regards to this.

On the subject of old user-made Omnisphere 2 patches working in 3, then I'm almost sure they WILL work, just make sure to save them to somewhere before deleting your Omnisphere 2 STEAM folder. Spectrasonics ensured complete backwards compatibility, so you should be good.

One thing to note is that my previously working Sonic Extensions will no longer work inside of Omnisphere 3. I get a message stating that I need to register those patches before I can use them.

      tl;dr

1.backup old Omnisphere VST .dll files if required (found in C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics\plugins)
      2.copy rename your AUDIO16.DAT to AUDIO19.DAT (found in C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics)
      3.install Omnisphere 3
4.rename old STEAM folder to prevent overwrite if required (found in C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics)
5.copy/move new Omnisphere STEAM folder to C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics
      6.test in DAW
      7.enjoy
