Inlet Audio Unravel [KONTAKT]

P2P | 08 March 2026 | 1.57 GB
FRAGILE + ROSIN-FORWARD
UNRAVEL captures the fragile, human side of the viola. the sounds are full of air, full of rosin, and each note holds a vast depth of improvisational versatility.
recorded over two days with violist hailey walterman, the focus was on closeness - sounds that sit between intimacy and vulnerability, carrying emotion without needing to be loud.
EXPRESSIVE + ATMOSPHERIC
designed for music that tells quieter and subtler stories, with a sublte hint of positivity.
UNRAVEL brings breath, movement, and presence into a piece.
it works beautifully on its own, or layered with other textures - adding a subtle, human edge through bow noise, rosin, and natural expression.
some of the sounds reminded us of the human voice, and it feels emotionally relatable that way.
WHERE
the viola was recorded during our inlet studio sessions in los angeles.
the material was later shaped and transformed in our berlin studio, carefully crafted into playable, expressive textures.
part of this material comes from the same original recording sessions as Viola Drama Textures.
revisiting these recordings allowed us to approach them differently - focusing on fragility, closeness, and subtle emotional movement.
the sounds were newly edited and reshaped into a more intimate instrument.
WHY
we're less interested in recreating instruments perfectly - and more interested in how they feel.
instead of removing every detail, we chose to keep the ones that matter: breath, friction, and the natural movement of the bow.
UNRAVEL was created through close collaboration with a violist, then carefully shaped into a cinematic instrument that stays human at its core.
SOUNDS + PRESETS
- interference (unstable & electronically manipulated soft rosin)
- raspy (sustains, bowed with wood of bow - col legno)
- trills (minor 2nd trills)
- wave improv (soft, improvised wave sustains)
- wavy (tremolo sustains, bowed with wood of bow - col legno)
