DiscoDSP OPL v2.7.2 [WiN]

The Yamaha OPL2 chip, introduced in 1985, defined video game soundtracks of the 80s and 90s. discoDSP OPL emulates the OPL2's FM and additive synthesis, including its unique percussion mode. With 16x oversampling for alias-free sound and over 2000 presets included, discoDSP OPL is perfect for classic game soundtracks, electronic music, or unique sounds, bringing the iconic OPL2 chip to your productions.

This instrument provides an emulated OPL sound chip, offering all features of the OPL2 and some features of the OPL3. It supports importing SBI files, an instrument file format developed by Creative Labs for the Sound Blaster, which serve as presets for this plugin. Simply drag and drop the SBI files into the plugin window to use them.

The OPL emulator uses channels made up of two oscillators each, typically employing phase modulation (similar to frequency modulation). Each oscillator provides eight waveforms: sine, half sine, absolute sine, quarter sine, alternating sine, camel sine, square, and logarithmic sawtooth. An ADSR envelope controls the amplitude of each oscillator. These unique waveforms create the OPL's distinctive sound. Each plugin instance simulates an entire OPL chip, and you primarily work with two operators: the carrier and modulator.

The newly supported Percussion mode offers features such as bass drum, snare, tom, cymbal, and hi-hat, each utilizing specific operator settings and recommended waveforms.
