Chicago-based, Colorado-raised artist astrid is seriously obsessed with writing music. Starting at 12 years old on FamiTracker making Undertale remixes and BGM for her Youtube gaming channel, she caught the bug, and has devoted the better part of every day to songwriting ever since. Her latest album of many, 'viscera,' is a culmination of that obsessive passion. The songs are contemplative and sincere, but her “chronically online, cringe culture” childhood still shines through in a way that only hyperpop allows.
'xX_lost_s0ulz_Xx,' is raw and unsupervised in a way that mirrors emo internet adolescence. Dark, dungeony synths and blown out bedroom guitars set the scene for you to scream your heart out. Detuned supersaws and chipped-tooth basses feel like “hearing a rave from the next room over, all alone…on the outside looking in,” astrid says.
She describes the pack as “artifacting - a copy of a copy of a copy of something that was once real, tangible and familiar, now contorted and disfigured to the point of being unrecognizable. These sounds are made to resemble the faint memory of a song you used to love listening to with someone you no longer know."
