Fern Shy is interrogating the politics of sound and music’s ability to shape change. The Nashville, TN musician has produced for many a post-genre provocateur: Edward Skeletrix, Devi McCallion, Matt Proxy and; Meat Computer. His 2025 solo album Everything is Pink is about waking up to reality from a dream state, and uses hybrid electronic/acoustic instrumentation to contrast playful energy with dissonant truth.  

‘My Turn’ follows an oeuvre of past free drumkits, which Fern made as a way to “give back to the community [he] fell in love with.” It explores the synthetic-meets-organic palette of his recent album with various live recordings, digital synthesis, and kaleidoscopic audio processing. The melodies, drums and; 808s are informed by experimental rap production but play as pieces across the boards of genre and; style.
