Metamor is like a spice for more natural parameter modulation in Ableton Live

Each of Metamors eight LFOs follows a choice of waveform along with minimum and maximum values.

The Waveform along with the Minimum and Maximum values are not controlled individually but as a global parameter by the shape of the waveform, speed and phase giving an organic feel.

In particular, the phase can be adjusted to adjust the degree of deviation, so the eight LFOs are always related to each other, and you can create multiple LFOs with random loops + regular randomness, rather than completely random or completely looped.

You can give dynamic constant changing to ambient or minimal phrases.

You could even use it to map to a parameter change for another mapping device.

ALSM by User Friendly is a collection of four experimental Drum Racks for Ableton Live 12 Suite, designed to inject abstract, heavily modulated synthesis into projects.

Each rack combines synth engines, modulation envelopes, reverb, and delay gates, offering unique interactions for dynamic, glitchy, and rhythmically contextualized soundscapes.

Dillon Bastan - Superposition

Superposition is a monophonic probabilistic concatenative multisampler with an inbuilt multi-fx and modulation system. It centers around transitioning between playback States; each State essentially is a preset for playback (including playing different samples), FX, and modulation settings/mappings. Additionally there are three playback modes (normal, grain, spectral) for time stretching and freezing effects. You can transition between playback States using the Markov probability system or through MIDI notes (or both simultaneously!). The device is pretty open ended and has many uses but it is great for sample mangling/cut up, generative melodies, jungle DnB and other breakbeats, glitchy FX/rhythms/textures, ambient progressions, and quite a lot more depending how you set it up!

Manifest Audio - Pattern Engine

Simply click the global dice to seed new musical ideas with minimal effort, or engage auto-randomization to unfurl endless worlds — without sacrificing intricate per-step control.

Each of Pattern Engine’s 16 steps can be manipulated and randomized across five dimensions: Mute (on/off), Pitch, Velocity, Length, and Tie (for monophonic glides). Each of these parameters can also be locked on a per-step basis to exempt them from randomization. Auto-randomization can be set to occur globally at intervals measured in bars — or at different bar intervals and probabilities for each auto-randomizing parameter.

Four tempo-syncable LFOs are available to govern the pitch of selected steps, creating dynamic melodic contours in a variety of shapes, with per-step LFO control offering intensity with direction and central transposition offset.

Outgoing note pitch values can be transposed internally and via incoming MIDI for dynamic performance via real-time input or pre-programmed clips — within 50 scales, in any key. Sequence direction, length, reset, step grid size, and swing are all included as expected, along with handy global settings and six playback modes to interact with MIDI input in a variety of ways, including innovative Gate and Side functions, vintage impulse Trig bank sequencing, or classic arpeggiation.

Providing immediate access to expansive realms of musicality, Pattern Engine unlocks new possibilities to drive any hardware or virtual instrument.

Glitchmachines - SKEIN FM Synth

Skein features 4 operators with skew controls and noise, as well as a flexible modulation matrix with per-cell modulation, per-operator feedback and eight user-definable algorithm presets. Key parameters can be targeted by numerous modulation sources such as 4 LFOs with 15 wave shapes, 4 modulation sequencers with various utilities and up to 32 steps, and 4 multi-mode envelopes. Easily shape and polish patches via two versatile multi-mode filters, as well as an effects processing chain that features 4 multi-effects with local randomizers and a reconfigurable chain order interface.

Much like our other creative audio plugins, we’ve taken an unconventional approach with Skein. David Starfire and Black Octopus Sound have teamed up to create a new brand of sample packs called Loops For Good where 10 % from each pack goes to a grassroots charity for those in need.

The first pack from Loops for Good, “Enchanted Thailand & Burma”, features sounds that were recorded when David traveled to South East Asia to produce his Karuna album. There are over a million Burmese refugees living in Thailand due to the ongoing political crisis in Burma/Myanmar. David collaborated with local musicians to learn about their culture and to support this underprivileged community. All of the musicians featured in this pack were paid for their art and we’re donating 10% of net proceeds to the Thai Freedom House in Chiang Mai that will go towards educational programs for Burmese refugee children.

Included in this one-of-a-kind sample pack is a variety of unique instruments from the region including native drums, gongs, flutes, xylophone, fiddle, harp, cymbals, and vocals. Even the names of some of the musicians who played the instrument are included. This is the first pack that features the sought-after signature sounds from David Starfire’s personal collection of Drum Hits, Basses, and Ableton Instrument racks which will take your electronic dance music or hip hop productions to the next level!

Scapeshift is a generative groovebox and sequencer. I started building it in a hospital bed as a tool to soundtrack videos. I was documenting my recovery from major cancer surgery and I wanted a tool that would be fast and flexible and output ready-mixed music.

But I’ve ended up using it for way more than that. It’s become an inspiration machine that can take me all the way to a finished track. I’ve already written and released a full EP with it. Right now I’m listening to it in Wander mode, getting my mind melted as it weaves through continuous variations.
