The sounds produced by a vintage MPC are intricate. From the distorted texture to its age-old circuitry, there’s just nothing quite like it.

Trying to replicate its sound with computer presets might get you close. But there’s just no substitute for the real thing.

Over the years, I took on the task of individually designing drums on my old MPC1000 - layering kicks, snares, and hats from hundreds of vinyl records. I built them up as fat as possible with the help of my knowledge and analog gear (Shure M44-7, Technics SL-1200, Vestax PMC-05) so you can skip the labor of doing this yourself.
