The StangRay was the second collaboration between Dr. Z and Brad Paisley after the smashing success of the Perscription RX that was built for Brad. The StangRay was designed to automatically give a punchy and spanky tone to its player without needing to use a compressor to add more spank. This is why they chose the EF86 preamp tube. This amp spanks and does a great job at it. The best way to think about it is like channel two of a Matchless DC30.

Dark and foreboding, this kit is great for creating suspensive rhythmic backdrops.
