RVNES (pronounced runes) is a composer, curator, and consultant with a unique aesthetic and finely tuned ear for recognizing both trends and emerging talent within the music industry. A Billboard Music Award winner and Grammy nominee, RVNES supplies material for some of music’s biggest companies, artists, and producers across a myriad of genres which has established him as a go-to collaborator among those in the upper echelon of both hip-hop and Latin music.

Safak Ozkutle, the Turkish producer behind the mystical Oceanvs Orientalis collective, delivers a rare collection of sounds pulled from the live sets that launched his career. Both a sound purist and maverick, Oceanvs Orientalis’ is a devotee of classic, orchestral instruments as well as experimental synthesized sounds. Construction Materials is a combination of both his sonic traditionalism and; his sonic adventures.

In 2011, a collapsing Creole cottage on Piety Street in the Bywater became the catalyst for a grand experiment in "musical architecture.” Founding artists Delaney Martin, Taylor Lee Shephard, Swoon and owner of the house, Jay Pennington, imagined the wreckage could be reimagined as a playground, theatre, musical instrument and, in general, a space for community music making. With 20+ other local artists, they brought the cottage back to life as a landscape of collectively-built sonic structures that make sounds in surprising ways - by walking on floorboards, opening sliding doors, or playing columns made of chimes. Thus began an evolving project that would be known as the Music Box.

In Fantasy Canyon of Dinosaur National Monument Park along the Uinta Mountains of Utah on the border of Colorado lie some of the worlds only lithophones. These ancient stones from the Eocene Era 150 million years go, where there was once a Lake Uinta and since then dried and the formation of river sandstone, has left these incredible finger-shaped lithophones that sound magical when struck.

Elliot Sharp is a legendary NYC based experimental multi-instrumentalist and avant-garde artist who pushes the envelope of exploratory sound. For decades he’s been creating a variety of electro-acoustic, string, and percussive instruments from found parts and recycled objects. Splice has finally teamed up with Elliot to record all of these unusual, eerie, haunting, and supernatural sounds that emanate from these instruments in one place. 

The sounds we hear in our daily lives can seem mundane, annoying, or even irritating. But what if we listened with a new mindful perspective? Splice Explores: Halcyon City captures the everyday sounds of Los Angeles and puts them through a series of effects, processing, and experimentation. The result is an urban soundscape transformed into a lush suite of ambient and meditative sound-healing samples.

Farm to Table is a sonic documentary that traces the journey of raw ingredients from vineyards and farms to their final destination on our plates. The Slovenian tourism board has developed a system for ‘Green Certification’ of travel destinations throughout the country; and on a bike ride through the Soča Valley in Slovenia, producer and artist Charles Van Kirk and his wife Kerri sought out to record in some of these locations. They tracked down the sonic lineage of milk and grapes from the hillsides and vineyards where they are farmed to the cellars and restaurants where they are served as cheese and wine, finally ending up at the epicenter of fine dining - Hiša Franko restaurant. 

Dry sands, hot rocks, prickly cacti, and wind swept mountains make up the harsh yet beautiful landscape of American deserts. A seemingly quiet and solitary environment, the desert is home to millions of lively species of plants and animals in a delicate balance with each other. On a road trip across America, Splice captured the rhythmic pulse of our few remaining deserts and brought it straight to your next track.

In the summer of 2021, producer Charles Van Kirk rode his bicycle 3,900 miles across the US from the Atlantic coast in Maine to the Pacific Ocean in Oregon. He packed a Zoom H6 in his handlebar bag and recorded sounds over the two-month-long journey through fourteen states. 

Splice's Signal Path label is proud to present Spencer Zahn: Vibey Synth. The music of NYC-based multi-instrumentalist Spencer Zahn is marked by openness. He crafts spacious sonic landscapes rich with contributions from his creative community. His latest release, Sunday Painter, is a lush collection of instrumental songs that undulate along waves of jazz, ambient pop, Americana, and neo-classical.

Splice's Signal Path label is proud to present Shigeto: Breakbeat Grooves. Acclaimed Ghostly International artist, Shigeto serves up a sizzling plate of breakbeats for your next production. Fit for any style of choice - hip hop, garage, jungle, dubstep, drum and bass - these breakbeat loops and one-shots are a reflection of Shigeto's artful genre-blending and bending. Shigeto is Zach Saginaw’s middle name. It’s also his grandfather’s name and a tribute to the Japanese branch of his family tree. Shigeto means “to grow”, appropriate, given Zach’s premature birth weight of less than a pound. Today, Shigeto stands for his vividly beautiful electronic music; beat-driven while given to richly textured sound design - rhythmically fractured but melodically sumptuous. Shigeto’s music is a bridge between the past and present, bringing the artist face to face with a creative legacy that spans decades.

The Brooklyn-born and raised musician Melanie Charles has made a name for herself through dynamic engagements with jazz, soul, and Rand;B. Her bold genre-bending style has been embraced by a range of artists including Wynton Marsalis, SZA, Mach-Hommy, Gorillaz, and The Roots. “Make Jazz Trill Again,” a project that she launched in 2016, demonstrates her allegiance to everyday people, especially the youth, and is focused on taking jazz from the museum to the streets. For this second installment, she has once again joined the Signal Path crew at Sound Factory LA to lay down flute, vocals, and electric piano samples for you to use in your productions. Use these one-shots and loops in your next project to help bring jazz to the streets.

INVT is the multidisciplinary art project of Luca Medici and Delbert Perez, specializing in electronic music and fashion design. Designated “The Best Electronic Act in Miami” by Miami Times, their sound mixes influences from Jungle, Techno, UKG, Dubstep, and various Latin bass music genres like Dembow, Cumbia, and Reggaeton. For the Latin Electronic Grooves pack, INVT met up with the Signal Path team for two days of recording at Sound Factory LA where they laid down live drums and percussion, then manipulated those sounds to create Dembow loops. This collection consists of rapid drum loops and raw rhythmic patterns bounding with that carefree Dembow energy.
