Iridescent melodies and drones contrast hard, angular sound design textures and percussion on experimental producer Minor Science’s first collection of samples for Rubicon. Mineral Shimmer is an extension of the sound-world heard on his Absent Friends Vol. 3 album for Balmat in 2023. Like the record, the pack places luminous ambient material alongside sharper textures created from found sounds and synthesis. Mineral Shimmer also features a range of curiosities including granular harps, electric bass and percussion made using the body and the voice. After a round of extensive layering and resampling, these sounds are ready to find their new homes beyond the Berlin studio from which they came.
