Within the vast styles, sounds, and instrumentation of African music and drums we drew inspiration from tradtion and blended it with a free experimentation. The result, a huge palette of sonic coloring.

In this third for us plugin we continued to adhere to the concept adopted at the very beginning of our adventure: to release the most natural instruments without unnecessary functionality. We also decided to concentrate on a slightly unusual, quiet and mysterious side of the Rhodes piano's sound. The sound that would not provoke, but instead, with every note you play, it would calmly tell you a secret, after listening to which you would want to settle down under a blanket, dim the light and think about what you have just heard.

Can experiments become instruments? Alium began with a search for the perfect grand piano to sample. After a session at Nottingham's Albert Hall, I captured test recordings of the Steinway - plucking, pen-tapping, and striking strings. While not suited for a full-scale sampling project, these samples were too unique to gather digital dust.
