Xiao is a Chinese vertically-played membrane-less wind instrument made of the bamboo trunk. With Xiao's grave and lower sound, it is traditionally presented in aulic or ritual music. In contemporary works, Xiao is commonly used in Chinese-fantastic topics. Though the pieces of Xiao are usually slow and smooth, it is also good at presenting fierce emotions by airflow-attack and vibrato.

"World in Gourd",Hulusi is a clarinet-like instrument in southern China, and it is especially favored by Dai, Yi, and Miao ethnic minorities. It has a bamboo wind tube and gourd resonance chamber, with two auxiliary wind tubes play two fixed notes for harmonics. Due to the mellifluous and lovely sound of Hulusi, it is massively used to express romantic relationships and accompaniment for lyrical dance.

Dizi is a Chinese transverse flute-like instrument made of the bamboo trunk. Unlike similar instruments, Dizi has a bulrush-made membrane that vibrates with airflow, making up its uniquely clear and bright sound. Dizi is an incredibly expressive instrument. Besides its smooth and beautiful melodic parts, Dizi can be played with a rich set of performances, such as rapid finger-popping, tongue-flutter, and airflow vibrato, allowing Dizi to play the most complex solo parts.
