Consider this your indie country starter pack. Nashville-based multi-instrumentalist Jarrad K explored bands and musicians who, while influenced by American Country music, don’t fit neatly into the 'country' genre - artists like Wilco, Andrew Bird, Elliott Smith, Bright Eyes, Bon Iver, and more. The resulting one-shots and loops are exciting and alive, sometimes even slightly off-kilter. They include the textures he reaches for when digging through samples to evoke feelings of melancholy, hopefulness, tension, and release.

Imagine driving down a dusty road, nothing but some abandoned train tracks and oil rigs in sight. Maybe there's a dog at your side in the pick-up truck, staring straight ahead, taking it all in. Your final destination? A night at the local honkeytonk for a two-stepping throw-down. Oh, and it's 1967. That's what these sounds invoke. Award-winning audio producer, multi-instrumentalist, and composer, Doug Organ crafted vintage country music loops and one-shots that capture yes, the outlaw country sound, but also western swing, honkytonk, California country-rock, Bakersfield Sound, and even some blues.

This pack was influenced by the late 1960s/early '70s Southern California country rock pioneers like Buffalo Springfield, Allman Brothers Band, and Gram Parsons. These sounds capture the 'back to basics' style employed to bridge the gap and blur the lines between rock and; roll and good 'ole country, adding some twang to rock and edge to country.

In "Dust Bowl - Vintage Country", we brought you samples inspired by the Bakersfield Sound, Outlaw Country, and more. In "Classic Country Rock", we focused on the 'back to the basics' sounds of late 1960s Southern California country rock pioneers like Buffalo Springfield, Allman Brothers Band, and Gram Parsons. In this "California Country" pack, we've pulled a little from column A, a little from column B, and then sprinkled a generous heaping of sparkling psychedelic sound dust throughout. For a country sound with a trippy edge, this pack delivers. 

This pack pays homage to the Spaghetti Western soundtracks by the great composers of 1960s Italy like Ennio Morricone, Luis Bacalov, Bruno Nicolai, and Stelvio Cipriani. Some films that served as inspiration included Blood and Dust, A Desert of Gold, and The Devil Came to Town. These scores possess a unique quality that is irresistible for sampling. Western soundtracks have been famously sampled by acts like Jay-Z, Hans Zimmer, Flying Lotus, Eminem, and The Orb.
