MONTAG-E is a granular sampler tool for NI Reaktor 6, designed for sound design and experimentation. Equipped with four simultaneous granular playheads on the same sample, individual audio outputs for multi channel or FX processing and a spread system for most of its parameters. Its versatility allows for a wide sonic palette, ranging from minimalistic or complex grain clouds, microsound, ambients, abstract soundscapes, drones, glitches, sound effects, instruments, and much more.

This week we have the second offering from Toronto’s Rarely, who has created a sprawling set of sounds, tapped in with an eclectic synth collection (Prophet 6 & 08, OB-6, Mellotron M4000D, Moog Voyager) and a mass of analog and digital instruments (Fender Rhodes, Jaguar, Casio SA-46), strings, guitars, tape decks and other effects. With tempos ranging from 70bpm 140bpm, there’s plenty of variety and room to find the right sound for your own creations.

Sometimes you need the full force of a large ensemble, sometimes you need the direct intimacy only a small ensemble can offer.
