Gospel music relies heavily on the sound of vocalists coming together singing in harmony and in unison, from choirs, to ensembles and even down to duets, the power of people singing together is monumental and foundational to the genre. “The United Voices Sample Pack” highlights an ensemble of church vocalists who are our friends and contemporaries who play a part in creating and sustaining the culture of music in their local churches.

Sound Doctrine presents The Peace of Praise Pack, a release of authentic contemporary gospel themed soul music. Dig into 15 melodic loops full of lush musicianship primed for any song or project. This release contains smooth soulful vocals accompanied by keys, organ, pads and bass played masterfully by award winning artist, producer and musician Swoope. 

The Life in Love Pack pays homage to and is inspired by the innovative sounds and songs of gospel music pioneer Fred Hammond. Originating from Detroit Michigan Hammond was a bassist for legendary gospel group “The Winans” and then later on became one of the original members of famed gospel group “Commissioned.” His solo career blossomed after in the early 2000’s with his group “Radical For Christ” bringing so many of the popular Rand;B, soul, funk and dance sounds of the day to gospel music. With this pack we sought to bring some of those sounds Fred Hammond was known for with contemporary Rand;B vocal harmonies, smooth chord progressions and the icing on the cake, a horn trio!

The Hawkins family is arguably the most impactful and legendary family in Gospel music. They have pushed the sound of the genre through different decades and phases of music. Specifically Walter Hawkings had a “Love Alive” album series that spanned from the 70’s all the way until the late 90’s. We specifically found much inspiration for this project from Walter Hawkins’ Love Alive IV album that was originally released in 1990. It was a standout record in that era serving as a standard for many choir ensemble albums to come.

Gospel has had choirs as the bedrock of its sound for years. Church choirs would be built from the many volunteers and members found within a church all coming together for the common goal of singing praises and worshiping God. In the late 80’s and early 90’s many gospel artists arose who were usually ministers of music and preachers in their respective churches forming recording choirs from the vocalists within their church and community. The music that arose was one that was sonically formed from the ethos and experience of church culture in the city. Artists like Reverend Timothy Wright, Reverend Milton Brunson and the Thompson Community Singers (“The Tommies”) and Douglas Miller are just a few inspirations for the pack that fit this description.

The City Choir Vol. 2 features select vocalists recorded at “Yesha Ministries Worship Center” in South Philadelphia. Curated and gathered by renowned grammy award winning drummer and producer ‘Lil’ Darrell Robinson (Pharell, N.E.R.D. and many more) son of Bishop Darrell Robinson Sr., lead pastor of the church that has been a centerpiece of culture and community in Philly. Many amazing artists and musicians have come through this church, from hosting concerts and “shed sessions” that truly have set a standard in the city and the industry. 

The Chorale of Light is a pack capturing the classic gospel music goodness that Sound Doctrine is built on. Take advantage of 15 melodic loops featuring a vocal ensemble led by gospel recording artist Ron King Jr, accompanied by the in-house band for the label. “The Baptism,” is a release of custom created loops, composed by artist and producer Swoope, in the contemporary gospel style that has the soul needed to lift any track musically. This release features heartfelt riffs and soloing, from vocalist Solomon Headen, over a bed of good ol’ church progressions that pay homage to the music that has served as the soundtrack to sacred ceremonies, like baptism service, in the black church. 

Spiritual Serenity is a Sound Doctrine release highlighting all of the goodness that comes from contemporary gospel that is such a foundation for Hip Hop and Rand;B today. With this pack you will have access to 15 melodic loops, instrument stems and one-shots of live instrumentation recorded in a church with soulful voices to match. 

“Renewed” is a Sound Doctrine release full of all the goodness that gospel music offers for modern producers today. This pack highlights an intimate piano, organ and bass trio accompanying a small vocal ensemble with arrangements that move and flow effortlessly, yet intricately, providing producers with so many variations to chop and create from. 

Take 6 is legendary gospel jazz a cappella group that are considered trailblazers fusing these genres in a way that solidified them as influences for a number of Black male pop groups of the '90s and beyond, especially acts like Boyz II Men and modern artists like Jacob Collier.
