SSL Channel Strip 2 The EQ section is a classic 4-band design with parametric LMF & HMF and shelving LF & HF sections (LF & HF switch to Bell). The whole EQ can be switched between E & G Series characteristics and can be applied to the dynamics side chain.
The Dynamics section offers separate Compressor and Gate/Expander. The Compressor can be switched between soft and hard knee. Both the Compressor and Gate/Expander sections feature fast/slow attack switches and independent side chains. The plug-in also features High and Low Pass Filters which can also be applied to the side chain. Perfect for smoothing, controlling and adding presence to any source material.

Sound Theory Gullfoss Gullfoss is an intelligent equalizer that listens to a signal and decides how to prepare the audio so that your brain can get the most information out of it. The realtime analysis of Gullfoss uses Soundtheory’s computational auditory perception model to understand which audible elements are competing for your attention. Released at the turn of the millennium with the slogan “Artistry in Analogue”, the Rupert Neve designed E 9098i Master Console was one of the highest achievements in analog console design. Today, it becomes Brainworx's most fully-featured console plugin with the release of the bx_console Amek 9099.
Musical EQs with comprehensive dynamic control
The AMEK 9099 has the kind of EQ you’d expect from a Rupert Neve design, with wide, musical curves, capable of tightening up enough to give you the precision you need without ever sounding “bad”. The dynamics section goes even further than the norm, with a fully variable expander, gate, compressor, and limiter, complete with extremely flexible sidechain capabilities.
Unique features not found in other consoles
The original AMEK 9098i was dotted with features not commonly found in analog consoles of its day. The EQ shelves feature a “Sheen” and “Glow” mode for even smoother boosts and cuts, while the parametric bands include a “Notch” mode for even more precise cuts. A unique “Ambience” switch in the dynamics section lets you easily hear exactly what your compressor is doing. And, the onboard EQ can operate as a fully parametric dynamics sidechain filter for even more precise control of your compressor and limiter.
More features than any other bx_console plugin
The engineers at Brainworx improved on a good thing by adding parameters not found on the original hardware. They added on a special “Clip” function in the limiter for super fast and smooth soft clipping and created a new fully functional expander/gate with its own sidechain filter, inspired by legendary analog gear. And, for the first time ever in a bx_console plugin, there’s even an onboard Mono Maker, Stereo Width and Auto Listen control.

Like every plugin in the bx_console line, the AMEK 9099 takes advantage of the proprietary Brainworx TMT design, to more accurately emulate the performance and behavior of a real analog console. Modeled after Dirk Ulrich’s own favorite AMEK strips, each channel is emulated at the component level to provide subtle channel-to-channel variances for greater dimension, width and depth, just like on a real analog console.

Designed from the ground up to be the ideal true peak limiter
Until now, most digital limiters that include a true peak mode have simply added it on as an afterthought. This has left a lot to be desired, with users complaining about unstable low end, compromised stereo imaging, harsh artifacts, and smeared transients. But with the bx_limiter TP, Brainworx has taken a new approach, designing the TP algorithm from scratch to make it perform and sound better than other digital limiters - while also eliminating troublesome inter-sample peaks for even cleaner results.
Selective Oversampling - two years in development!
With input and feedback from top mastering engineers around the world, Dirk Ulrich and the Brainworx engineers packed bx_limiter TP with new technology and new controls. It relies on “Selective Oversampling” (SOS), to employ oversampling only where it actually improves the signal, and to avoid it where it has been found to compromise the sound. Coupled with its “Advanced Look-Ahead” design and its incredible speed, it is able to deliver tighter, more accurate low end and better stereo imaging than any other true peak limiter around, even at extreme settings. And it is a true rockstar in preserving transients while increasing density and loudness. Punchy, loud & clear!
A complement of extra controls for enhanced final sweetening
The bx_limiter TP does more than just limiting peaks. It also includes simple yet powerful tools to add the finishing touches of sweetening, for a more perfect master. Onboard low and high pass filters help control the extremes, while proprietary “XL” saturation and “Foundation” filters can be used to add subtle degrees of heft, weight, tightness, or clarity to fine-tune the sound of your master. This is particularly important as it allows you to constantly adjust the vibe of your master while you’re turning up the volume to get to a competitive loudness. Even small details like a negative gain control have been implemented, which comes in handy when you have to correct mixes that suffer from less-than-ideal gain staging quickly and efficiently.
More metering than your average limiter
Also included is a suite of essential metering and monitoring options to help you better understand what’s going on within your audio. In addition to the traditional level and gain reduction meters, the bx_limiter True Peak includes a customizable loudness meter for hitting specific loudness targets, a correlation meter for checking phase coherence, and the ability to monitor the center, sides, and L/R channels separately – even soloed in place.
