This sample pack is a time capsule of Midcoast Maine in the spring. Maine based producer Charles Van Kirk chronicled the sounds of flora, fauna and industry near his home along Muscongus Bay and the Damariscotta River from April - June 2022. Sounds include wood frogs croaking during mating season in a vernal pool, kayaking to nearby islands and playing percussion on driftwood sculptures, singing in an abandoned stone fort and most prominently, an exhaustive collection of the sounds of oyster farming: sifting small oysters, upweller pumps, dragging bins on boardwalks, untangling lines of nursery bags on the river and individual foley of harvested oysters. Charles has created Sensory Percussion kits using these found sounds to create loops in a myriad of styles and tempi inspired by the source material.

It is no secret that Afrobeats has taken over the airwaves. Pop music, Tik Tok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube content all feature the popular genre in millions of user created content. “Jewel”, created by Ulloa, is a take on the modern sound that has exploded within the last 5 years. With 15 Melodic Loops, with accompanying drum loops, and one-shots, “Jewel” is a great starter pack for users looking to ride the Afrobeats wave in all it’s infectious, danceable glory.

Essentials: Dead Drums was created by Marcus Myers. It is a vintage, dry, dead drum kit sound. It was recorded with a mix of vintage drum shells and cymbals going through a vintage SSL 4000 E. It was recorded at Milkboy the Studio in Philadelphia by Samantha Rosen and was mixed by Connor Hedge.

Synthwave Reggaeton, created by Jorge Ulloa combines two genres meant to live harmoniously. The hard backbeat of reggaeton matched with the deep, epic tones of synthwave are a match made in Heaven. This pack features 15 melodic loops, 15 drum loops, as well as melodic and drum one-shots for a tailored music production experience!

Created by the.Wav (Gregory Stutzer) and RIZR (Felipe Rodriguez), Sub-Saharan Drill is a deep foray into Afro-Trap and Afro-Drill. This pack features over a dozen and a half melodic loops, and drum loops combining the best of both worlds; hard hitting trap and drill drums with rhythmic and syncopated melodies from all over the African continent. With over hundreds of sounds, there is no shortage of creative possibilities with “Sub-Saharan Drill”.

'Sarod' means 'beautiful melody' in the Persian language. The instrument's deep, weighty, introspective sound and resonant quality offers the perfect contrast to the sitar's sweet, overtone-rich texture. The sarod is a fretless instrument that allows the player to slide continuously between notes, a technique important in Indian music known as meend (glissandi). Popular in Hindustani music, the sarod can be played using several different fingering techniques, depending on the player's preferences. 

Tinieblas is a Spanish word that translates to "darkness". Inspired by the inherent mystery surrounding the word, producer Erick Bardales created a collection of sounds that could both fit a modern horror film and lend itself to dope trap records. 

For this pack, Ray Luminais grabbed inspiration from the likes of Fivio Foreign, Central Cee and Pop Smoke. Keeping true to his trap and hip hop background, he started by creating dark grimey melodies and pairing them with a mix of classic and fusion drill drum patterns to create this Splice Original.

Inspired by artists like D’Angelo, Robert Glasper, Jordan Rakei, and H.E.R., Splice Originals: Soul Drip explores the hypnotic melodies and harmonies of neo-soul. Combining the complexity of jazz voicings and the approachability of modern sound design, this collection will add depth to your productions with inspiring pieces produced by Charles Dorman. Using everything from a Yamaha C7 grand piano and trapped-out vocals to unique and thick drum grooves, Soul Drip is here to blend old and new in a way you haven't heard before. Producer Ray Luminais who brought us Splice Originals releases like Street Sweeper Southern Drill and Gutta Hard Trap is back and is exploring Bay Area-influenced trap sounds. Inspired by Dj Mustard, Nipsey Hussle, E40, and Tyga, this pack could soundtrack a night out with the crew - one to remember with all the trappings of a good time. Ray used Splice's Astra synth, a Moog, and a Roland TR808 to craft these sounds. Tap into the vibe.

Splice Originals: Snack Pack, created by production group PBnJ, combines lo-fi hip hop with alternative Rand;B to deliver sounds that are both timeless and in line with today's hits. Consisting of Pino Russo, Benjamin Greenspan, and Jordan Brooks and based in LA, PBnJ has worked with producers and acts like Tempest, Zacari, Los Hendrix, Nami, Hollywood Cole, Naomi Wild, and many more. Today, they mostly spend their time composing multi-textured and multi-layered soundscapes, which had a big influence on the sounds in this pack.

Transcending beyond music, African percussion is a vital component of culture and spirituality across the continent. The percussive rhythms of African people are deeply embedded in their communities' rites and rituals, such as births, weddings, funerals, initiation rites, harvest festivals, healing practices, and dance rituals, among others.

For Splice Originals: Pocket Drums Vol 2, Corey Fonville pays homage to Philadelphia Soul music while incorporating his own modern twist. Recorded at Minimum Wage Recording in Richmond VA, this pack features quintessential breakbeat-style grooves that capture 1970s energy, along with percussion styles representing funk, soul, disco, hip hop, and Rand;B. The result is a surprising mix of grooves, beats, and rhythms pulling inspiration from artists like Questlove, The Roots, Clyde Stubblefield, Steve Jordan, Elvin Jones, and many others.

This Splice Originals release is influenced by Bryson Tiller, Daniel Caesar, Portishead, Lovage, The Weeknd. Blending trap, RnB, and trip-hop, this pack is for the dirty side of late-night tracks. These sounds are sweaty, dark, sultry, seductive, filthy, heavy, and vulnerable at the same time. Let the emotions pour as you dig into these distorted pads, delicate guitars, ethereal vocals, and heavy drums.
